(Genesis 17;1) And when Abraham was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
God is telling Abraham to trust him and walk his way. God had already promised Abraham a child in (Genesis 15;4). But as you read in (Genesis 16), instead of waiting on the Lord Sarah makes a plan with Abraham to have child another way. Now there has been a battle in the flesh ever since! So now in (Genesis 17) thirteen years later the Lord is saying trust me. Even though Sarah is ninety years old, she shall have a son and she will be the mother of nations.
Are we like Abraham and Sarah trying to make things happen or are we trusting in him to make a way where there seems to be no way. If we truly trust him and let him have his way he will work things out for our good. Trusting him is letting go and letting him have his way. If we truly want to be a servant of the most high God; we will have to go his way or take the highway.
One of the hardest things for a mother to do, is to let go of their children. This is because when they are babies they are totally dependent on you. And each year of their life they become more independent. Once they get to be an adult we have to let go or we will cripple them for the rest of their life. At some point the child must realize that it is them and God alone. Dont make the mistake of fixing every problem your child has or they will never learn. Whether it is financial troubles, friendship, marital problems or something else it is between them and the Lord. What will they do when you’ve gone on to glory. And glory you shall go unless the Lord makes his appearance. Some parents are always blaming their kids problems on someone else. After a while the child believes everything that happens is someone else’s fault. Little do we know it is those hard knocks our Lord has allowed to mold that child into what he wants them to be. If you continue to bail people out and expect other people too, they may stay in in the wilderness till you have gone on to glory. What will it take for you to trust God! God only lent those children to you to raise. So now it is time to trust him. We can pray for our kids and trust God for our kids but the rest is up to him. Are you ready to say; here they are Lord take care of them. You know, he does take care of the whole universe.
If you are short on money are you going in your closet praying asking God for it, or are you trying to still be dependent on flesh, asking this one and that one for it. If you work hard, manage your money and do what is right the Lord will supply your every need. Most of the time he gives us more than we need. I know he has me.
It is sad but we live in a world that their trust is in the arm of flesh. People trust in wealth, fame, popularity, cults, religion, family and friends more than they do God. If we truly trusted in God, worry would not be our best friend. The devil is the father of lies and we should not listen to him.
If we could only come to realize that it is in him that we live and breath and have our being. This means literally he is the way we live life, breath and are alive. We must seek him first in every area of our life and trust him!
Name one area of your life that you truly trust God.
Name one area in your life that you do not trust God enough!
Is there one area in your life that you will decide in this new year to trust God with? Can we say with the good Lords help I am going to trust God.
