On the Twelve Day of Christmas

posted in: Devotionals | 0

On the twelve day of Christmas my true love gave to me: His Holy Spirit, resurrection life, Death on a cross, life for evermore, salvation for mankind, the bread of life, the Word made flesh, beauty for ashes, His Word for health and healing, Joy for your soul, the light to light the way, and a baby in a manger.

This little baby would be born in a stable, die on a cross, buried in a tomb, resurrected on the third day, and would send his Holy Spirit to the whole world.

He died on the cross and shed his blood for all of our sins. He was resurrected that we could all receive everlasting life in him. After he resurrected he told his disciples to tarry in the upper room until he sent his Holy Spirit. The disciples knew Jesus as a man, they knew him as Lord but, they did not have his miracle working power until Jesus went to his Father. Then he sent his Holy Spirit to the disciples in the upper room where they waited. He also sent his Holy Spirit to all those that would receive it. It is His Holy Spirit that gives us hope. It is His Holy Spirit that makes a way where there seems to be no way. If the Holy Spirit was not here, the whole world would be in total confusion and destruction.

”But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (1 John 14:26).

”Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself: but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13).
