Memorization and Meditation
Part 3
We have been talking a lot about memorization and meditation of scriptures because it is so important. Although it has really became a thing of the past we need to get back to this! Jesus himself quoted scriptures to defeat Satan when he was in the wilderness for forty days and nights. If Jesus used the scriptures to combat the Devil; we will surely need them in our everyday lives! Lots of times if you check yourself, you are trying to fight a spiritual battle within your natural abilities, which never works. We must be filled up with God’s ammunition! Which is God’s word. Let the Word of God work for you and fight your battles!
(Matthew 4;1-4) “Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.” Jesus is saying that he can’t live on bread alone but must have the word of God! If we are only taking in natural food we can get weak or sometimes physically sick. Jesus knew that the natural food couldn’t sustain him but it would take the Word of God! Lets not deprive our body’s from the word of God!
(Matthew 4;5-7) “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith onto him , If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE CONCERNING THEE: and IN THEIR HANDS THEY SHALL BEAR THEE UP, LEST AT ANY TIME THOU DASH THY FOOT AGAINST A STONE. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, THOU SHALT NOT TEMPT THE LORD THY GOD.” The devil couldn’t get Jesus to eat any bread so he tried to get Jesus to do something stupid. Jump off this and the angels will take care of you! When we do stuff like this we are tempting the Lord, which we are not allowed to do. It’s kindly like the snake handlers on TV that would handle rattlesnakes. One day one of them got bit and he died. The same is with sin, one day you may temp the Lord for the last time, and he may say depart from me you worker of iniquity! Don’t take chances, its not worth losing your soul over!
((Matthew 4;8-11) “ Again, the devil taketh him up to an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, THOU SHALT WORSHIP THE LORD THY GOD, AND HIM ONLY SHALT THOU SERVE.” So the devil promises to give him all the kingdoms in the world if he will worship him. That’s what the devil is always trying to do to God’s people. He is always making promises. We must remember he is the father of lies and their is no truth in him. He was trying to buy Jesus with things and God owns it all. The devil can only give you sin for a season that turns into more troubles than you can count! Don’t be tricked by the adversary!
