Remember The Blessings of Job

It has been so hard seeing the loss that many of my friends, family, and loved ones have suffered. It has been heartbreaking, especially with the people who have lost loved ones and everything that belongs to them except the clothes on their backs. You see the stress in their eyes, we can’t even imagine the hurt in their heart. They still give you a smile and kind words. In Avery County, this is how people are. We are all family. We also have family and friends in a lot of the other areas that were also devastated by this terrible Hurricane.

The loss that we have seen brings me to the story of Job. One day Job lost his sons, daughters, most of his servants, his sheep, and camels. The Bible says in Job 1:22 (KJV)

“In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.”

After this Job was smote with boils from the sole of his feet to the crown of his head. Job 2:9 (KJV)

“Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.”

Job 2:10 (KJV)

“But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”

Then Job’s friends degraded him and said he was having trouble because he had sinned. They did not lift him up but condemned him instead.

Later Job begs God to speak to him. In Job 38 God begins to question Job. In Job 42 Job admits his faults. Read (Job 42:1-6)

Job 42:1(KJV)

“Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

Job 42:2 (KJV)

I know that thou canst do every [thing], and [that] no thought can be withholden from thee.

Job 42:3 (KJV)

Who [is] he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

Job 42:4 (KJV)

Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

Job 42:5 (KJV)

I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

Job 42:6 (KJV)

Wherefore I abhor [myself], and repent in dust and ashes.”

Then we find out the ones that had sinned were his friends.

Job was blessed more than he was before because of the condition of his heart towards God.

Job 42:7 (KJV)

And it was [so], that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me [the thing that is] right, as my servant Job [hath].

Job 42:8 (KJV)

Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you [after your] folly, in that ye have not spoken of me [the thing which is] right, like my servant Job.

Job 42:9 (KJV)

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite [and] Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

Job 42:10 (KJV)

And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:12 (KJV)

So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

Job 42:13 (KJV)

He had also seven sons and three daughters.

We are agreeing in Jesus’ Name for the blessings of Job to be upon the people who have lost so much. We are agreeing for them to have His peace that passes all understanding, His joy unspeakable, and for the Lord to bless them above and beyond what you could even think or ask. We are standing on the truths of God’s Word. He will make a way for you where there seems to be no way.

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. We are trusting the Lord to meet every need!
