The Sermon On The Mount
The Beatitudes
This was probably one of the most beautiful and detailed messages that Jesus taught. He covers about every topic you can think of. We will touch on part of it today. Many times we think, I read the Bible but I don”t know what it means. But the mind stores the words that we read and the Lord will bring these words back to our remembrance, when we need them.
John 14:26 (KJV)
“But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. “This is why we must soak our minds in the Word of God. Filling our self with his Word is forever, strength for us. We have to hear, see, walk, talk, and live in the Word. We need to be so full of His Word that His precepts become our precepts. We are so in tune with God that we don’t have to question God, we know what is right from wrong.
(Matthew 5:1-12)
¶ And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4434 (Poor – beggar, pauper)
4151(spirit – a spirit, human, the rational soul, mental disposition)
Consider our self as being able to do nothing, we trust totally on Him. As long as we think we can do it, he won’t. When we are going through something and we discuss it with someone else chances are we will not obey. Because we are talking with flesh and blood instead of heading to His spirit. The Lord will bring His Word to our remembrance if we will hear his voice. If we are going to have the Holy Spirit talk to us we must realize that I cannot pray like I should, I can not blot out my sins, I cannot change my disposition, I cannot lift myself closer to God. Once we know this then we can receive his Holy Spirit and hear Him speak to us. But we must obey.
The Jews at this time thought that the sign of the blessing was material prosperity and Jesus said blessed are the poor.
