We are the Temple of the Most High God!
When Jesus arose from the dead he sent his Holy Ghost spirit to dwell in his people! We are the temple of God. (1Corinthians 3;16) “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” God’s Spirit dwells in us or lives in us. This is why our temple which is our body must be kept holy. Also we must keep our heart, soul, spirit and our minds holy, because you cannot separate them from our body! Just as you can’t separate Jesus the Son from the Heavenly Father or the Holy Spirit. We need to be so in line with the word of God that we cannot be separated from hearing the Holy Spirit which is in us!
We have the Holy Ghost so it can lead, guide, and direct us in the right direction. (John 16;13) “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” We just need to remember to listen for that still small voice!
I remember once when Charity my oldest daughter was a baby, my cousin had came over to baby sit. Our dog had got out of its pen when I was getting ready to leave. My cousin said; I’ll put it up for you! I said; thank you and left. After I left, a still small voice said; you better go back or your dog will get run over! I said; it will be fine I’m sure Jennie put it up for me! Well she did her best to put it up but some how it broke loose and got run over! It was not my cousins fault, it was mine for not listening to the Lord. Since then I try to hear that still small voice even if it seems silly! Don’t be like me, and have to learn a lesson before you start hearing that still small voice!
Now I want to talk about how important it is to take care of the temple of God. (1Corinthians 3;17) “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” Once we become Christians we become a tabernacle of God. God does not dwell in a building but he dwells in his people. The closer we get to God the more he dwells in us. (Acts 7;48) “Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands;”
In the spiritual part of our bodies we must fill ourselves with the word of God. We must be ready to give up our own desires, and have a desire for his will to be done in our lives. It takes much work at denying our self to become what he wants us to be in the spiritual realm. We will no longer have a right to ourselves. (Colossians 3;2) “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
The natural part of our bodies will also have to come under subjection to the Holy Spirit. This also is a great task. When we start trying to deny our flesh the flesh is weak. The flesh wants what it wants. Here are some of the things that we will need to deny ourselves of!
Opening our mouths when we should be quiet! (James 3;6) “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so Is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”
Be careful what we look at or hear! We need to let the Holy Ghost control our five sense’s. (Hebrews 12;2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
Don’t do anything that would harm the temple of the Holy Ghost! Drugs, Alcohol, over eating, etc.
(1 Corinthians 6;19) “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Jesus Christ paid an extreme price for our sins. Once we get saved we are not our own. We have been bought by the price of the Blood of Jesus! After he cleanses us and makes us white as snow, lets keep our selves spotless. We can’t do it on our own but Christ Jesus which is in us can do it for us! (1 Corinthians 6;20) “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
